My Niche

I think this is the longest I have gone without making a post on my blog since I started. Over a week! I felt like I was in a bit of withdrawal because it turns out I really like writing down my thoughts.ideas.insecurities, etc. I think it makes me feel better : )
As I was clicking on 'New Post' to write today's entry it said it was going to be my 60th post. Now that (for me) is an impressive streak of sticking to it! I have a habit of trying something new and then getting bored and moving on to the next interest. Let's think about this for a second...
-Scrapbooking (Meh)
-Sewing (I'm going to do that again this winter...I swear)
-Being gluten free (I did it for a good while...a few times)
-Not drinking caffeine (Yeah frickin' right!)
-Write a book (started it....6 months ago...)
...and the list goes on. I am sure Jason could think of a bunch of things to add to that list because I tend to pretend they never happened.
So naturally I wondered, is this blog something I will be able to stick to? And as time has passed and I have added to it, updated the layout etc, I've realized something.
What I've realized is that this blog has helped me do a bunch of the things I have always wanted to do... only all in one place. Write, log my recipes with pictures, take pictures, share pictures, start up a small business, share my thoughts, write in a 'diary', and ''scrapbook'' without all those expensive stickers from Archiver's.
And as far as the photography aspect, my 'aha' and 'you need to do this for real' moment was when I came back from taking pictures for my brother-in-law, his girlfriend, and my nephew. I loaded the pictures on my laptop and felt this rush of happiness, excitement and anticipation. I told Jason it felt like Christmas morning. So I decided right then and there that I needed to pursue this. My skills would and will improve over time, but if I never try I'll never know. By the end of this month I will have had my first 5 paying clients : ) and when we get back from our trip to South America, I am doing my first small wedding ceremony. It's so fun to have a place all my own where I can share this process with my future self and others who care to read about it. I don't have to worry if my recipes are all clean, or all organic, or all gluten free, or all made with buffalo sauce (Jason wouldn't mind) because it's my blog, it's how my life is and I don't have to apologize for it but rather embrace it and be proud of it : )
So what I guess I am trying to say in a less long-winded way is that I think I have found my niche. And I am thrilled about it.
After clinical tomorrow (and after I finish my final project for my current class..due Thursday...ugh) I get a four day weekend! Woohoo! I am taking engagement pictures Thursday, newborn pictures on Saturday, and family pictures on Sunday. Pumped. Oh and I am sleeping in every day. Boom.
Ok, I promise this will be one of the few posts without pictures. But cut me some slack. I have worked something like 56 hours in the last 5 days. Not complaining...just saying that didn't lend itself to many picture taking opportunities. I will surely make up for it in the next 5 days : )
I hope everyone is having a great week so far. And thanks for listening.
